Awards
The National
Academy of Vectors and Vector Borne Diseases has instituted several awards in
recognition of the outstanding research contributions made by the scientists in the
field of vectors and vector borne diseases.
'Vestergaard
Frandsen Award' for Vector Control
'Vestergaard
Frandsen Award' consisting of a cash award of Rs 200,000 (Rs two lakh) is to be
given to active researchers who are nationals of any SAARC member country and have contributed
significantly in the fields of understanding the mechanism of insecticide resistance,
vector bionomics and control. The cost of travel and other expenses of the
recipient and the medallion will be borne by Vestergaard Frandsen.
'Bayer
Environmental Science' Award
"Bayer
Environmental Science" have initiated the above award
consisting of Rs 100,000 (one lakh) in cash to be given to a well established scientist
having
working experience in India and who has made an outstanding
contribution in any field of vector borne diseases preferably in the vector/disease
management aspect. In exceptional cases, Indian nationals working abroad or
foreign scientists may also be considered for the award provided their
work has made significant contribution in the understanding and control
of vector borne disease in India. The award is open in all fields of science
related to vectors and vector borne diseases. The cost of travel and other
expenses of the recipient and medallion will be borne by the Bayer
Environmental Science.
'National Academy of Vector Borne Diseases' Awards
There will be Two
awards (a medal and a citation) for the outstanding contributions in the
field of
Vector Borne Diseases,
one for work related to
Environmental aspects and other on
Molecular Biology.
Best Poster
Presentation Awards
During the IX
International Symposium on Vectors and Vector Borne Diseases to be held at Puri,
15-17 February 2008, scientists participating in the presentation of their
research by poster display would be awarded for Best Poster Presentation in two categories.
1. Senior scientists (35 years and above):
Three
awards
2. Junior scientists (below 35 years):
Three awards
Note:
Any dispute in the selection of awards would be subjected to the jurisdiction in
Bhubaneswar, Orissa-headquarter of the Academy.
