The National
Academy of Vectors and Vector Borne Diseases is a Registered Society (Regn.
No. 19767/199 of 1994-95 under Society Registration Act XXI of 1860) and
pioneering institution of the country dealing with all vectors and vector
borne diseases. At the time of constitution of this academy there was no
forum to bring the scientists working together in malaria and other vector
diseases together. Therefore in 1994 like minded scientists decided to
constitute this academy with its registered office in Bhubaneswar, Orissa (india).
The academy publishes an annual Newsletter. So far the academy has organized
eight international conferences and the 9th conference is being organized in
Puri from 14--17 Feb 2008. The conference will be attended by 300-400
scientists from India and abroad belonging to research institutions,
universities, vector borne disease control programme managers and scientific
staff working at the centre, states and urban areas. Members of this academy
are very distinguished scientists of the country, many of them have achieved
high international acclaim. Views expressed during the conference have
greatly influenced the policy decisions of the government.
